Ok, today I got the infamous Blue SoD. Try as I may I could not get around it:
STOP 0X0000007B
INACCCESIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

After trying all sorts of different fixmbr and fixboots I almost gave up. I was using my dual boot XP recovery console. For some reason my computer would not recognize 2000 as an operating system. So I finally plopped in the 2000 CD and tried to do a repair. But, again, my computer would not recognize 2000 as an installed OS. It kept asking for this Emergency repair disk. As there are some nice features I would like to have utilized in my repair my question is this. How do I create this Emergency Repair Disk?

I was lucky that my XP recovery counsole was intact and was able to to do a chkdsk /p/r and that finally did it. I would like to not have to rely on XP so much so an answer would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Well, you see, the idea is you create the ERD _before_ your machine goes belly-up... That said, the same thing happened me - I did make the ERD but after a few months I figured I wouldn't need it, so I wrote over it one time when I needed a floppy but didn't have a spare... boy, was I sorry when my machine went into a coma.

Anyway, what I did was create an ERD from another W2000 machine (type 'emerg' into Help, you'll see it from there). This got my machine back on its feet again, but I've a funny feeling that it copied a lot of settings etc from the other machine, so some of my stuff (mainly programs) was missing files and settings etc.

But it got me back to a point where I could at least boot and fix any problems from there.

There may be copies of the ERD floating around the Net, but 'caveat downloador'...

Well if it ain't broke why spend time thinking about it, right? So...after all these years I finally have an Emergency Repair Disk. Hopefully today's fix wasn't a fluke and I won't have to use this disk. Thanks again.
