i'm running outlook express 6.0 - i can receive mail but all sent messages stay in outbox, and i get the error message below
An unknown error has occurred. Subject '', Account: 'pop.charter.net', Server: 'smtp.charter.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '421 Message rejected', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, Error Number: 0x800CCC67

clearly your outgoing mail isn't configured correctly. Normally you would contact your isp charter and get the correct settings.
Odds are you need the SSL port number. Secure(SSL): No doesn't look correct to me.

You might be trying to send an email with an attachment that's too large for the mail server to accept. Look in the Outbox to see how big the message is. Most systems have either a 10MB or 5MB limit.
Assume that I already did an Internet search.
