Situation: I have connected two W2K computers via a 100MB network. It works fine, but: when I d-click on network neigborhood, it takes about 15-20 seconds before I see the other connected computer.
The log-file indicates that the two computers are negotiating who's going to be the master-browser.
Is there a setting, witch forces something like that, so I don't have to wait those long seconds?

ps: I use NetBios for the network connection.

Netbeui is a highly traifc oriented protocol. If ou want to improve the configuration, install TCP/IP only. Assign static IPs and subnets to both PCs.

Of course you'll need to standard Client for Microsoft windows, File and printer sharing, etc. Just get rid of Netbuie, (Netbios is not a protocol). If you still have challanges, what is the connection(s) type, 10MB cross voer cbales or to a 10MB hub ?

I had the same problem. What I did to fix it was make a HOSTS file for both machines, and make sure that if you're sharing internet connection, specify DNS servers for both the internal (both machines) and external (ICS server) NICs, use your ISP's DNS servers. I also assigned everything static, using the ICS server's IP entered as the gateway for both machines. This worked for me.
