My cd-rom does not detect any disk under win2k or under win95.
The primary IDE Channel has a hard disk as the master and an ide cd-rom as slave. The secondary Ide channel has two hard disks connected to it. Each operating sytem was installed cleanly (i.e I disconnected the other hard diska when installing each opertaing system so Win2k does not boot into the dual boot screen. Instead I use OXSL to manage the boot procedure which seems to do a fine job.
There is no physical problem with the cd-rom unit as i have tested it on another pc. The jumper settings are correct.
I read through the win2k troublshooter which tells me that there are problems when more than 2 ide devices are connected and that the solution is to edit the win2k registry. Unfortunately it does not tell you what changes should be made to the registry. The fact that my SCSI CDRW works fine seems to confirm that but the ide cd-rom behaved perfectly properly when i was running win95 with three ide devices.
