Reply: (edit)If it was msdos then the line will resemble: "c:=\msdos" Might be useful to post the boot.ini here so 'we' all can see wot's wot and advise more helpfully/usefully?

Reply: (edit)Perhaps this link will help you find it? (modifying folder options section) http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=311578 It doesn't matter what the file system is. Also, even with an add-in boot-manager that file should still be there - it's a core part of the boot-system for the NT family?

Reply: (edit)you have to disable the "HIDE PROTECTED OPERATING SYSTEM FILES (RECOMENDED)" ---To do this, open MY COMPUTER, point TOOLS, FOLDER OPTIONS, VIEW, and uncheck the "HIDE PROTECTED OPERATING SYSTEM FILES (RECOMENDED)", the file should then be visible in the root folder of your system drive, ie. C:\boot.ini Open file to with notepad to edit. ------that should do it for windows 2000 and XP. As for 98 i am not sure, but your welcome to try.
