The reverse lookup zone records are being created but the forward "A" records are not. The DHCP server is configured properly for dynamic updates. The clients are W98 and WXP Pro.
Does anyone know why I am not able to see the "A" records in the forwad zone?
Thanks

i need more info man. The only thing you are asking is:
I got dynamic dns and it doesnt work how is that possible?
No use in asking this if we dont have any additional info

The server is a domain controller in a W2K network. It is also running the following services:
DHCP
DNS
Active Directory
WINS
File and Print services
The clients (W98 & WXP Pro) are set to acquire the IP settings from the DHCP server. DHCP is set for dynamic updates to the DNS server.
The DNS server is configured to use forwarders which are the DNS servers of our ISP. The forward zone is a standard primary and so is the reverse lookup zone. Both zones are set to allow dynamic updates.
The forward zone contains the SOA, WINS, NS and A for the server. The DNS server points to itself for DNS. There is no root zone '.' present.
My client is a WXP Pro. I can see my record in the reverse lookup zone but not the forward. I performed a test by removing my entry from the reverse zone. On my client I issued the ipconfig /registerdns command. When I checked the DNS server my record appeared in the reverse zone but not my forward zone.
No one on the network is having any problems resolving names. DNS seems to be functioning properly. I just don't understand why I cannot see the forward zone client entries. Especially for the WXP Pro machines. I understand there may be a problem with the W98 clients and that Micorsoft has a fix but I would have thought the XP machines would have worked.

i think i would simply remove the current dns zone. then rebuild it and recheck it. this is one of those where we need to see the configuration you have going.
DNS is real simple, install and let it auto configure and your rockkin.
good luck
AJ
PS. microsoft technet has a great tutorial on DNS installation and configuration.
