Hi guys!

I have a Compaq Proliant M350 Server and I have this disk configuration

One SCSI disk 18GB formatted as Dynamic Disk(1st Simple Volume 4GB with Windows 2000 Server Installed, 2nd Partition EISA Configuration 30MB,3rd Volume -with remaing storage size- Empty only with Swap File) and another SCSI Disk which is the same with the first disk but formatted as a Basic Disk.

I want to extend the 1st Volume (System volume with Windows installation) with the other volume (12GB) but in Disk Management the "Extend Volume" option is grayed. Why?

Let me show you what Disk Management Graphic brings...

|--System Vol.--|-EISA Conf.-|---Data Vol---|

thank you in advance!

Digital Family.

A swap file is normally on the Windows partition or on a different physical drive.I would transfer the swap file to the second physical drive and try to do the merge on the first physical drive(1st and 3rd volume).

Petit Jean, the problem is that I cannot merge 1st and 3rd volume cause in the middle is the EISA configuration that cannot be removed...

If I right click the EISA Partition all options are grey.

I cannot merge them! Damn it...

Thank though!!!

Microsoft recommends using diskpart from the Windows 2000 console or a disk partitioning program (like Partition Magic).Microsoft also points to the fact that Disk Management cannot be used at all for the intended job.If the computer is in service, backing up the partitions is a must.

"Only the extension of data volumes is supported" from here.

Disk space has to be unallocated whereas the space you want to expand to isn't.

OK, I left it as it was so there is no problem... My server is ready and I'm not going to install something else..

Thank you guys, for your interest!
