DVD player won't recongize dvd disk

I am trying to backup my dvd movies because lets face it, I'm a guy and I don't take care of my stuff. Well, I learn't how to backup movies and got almost all my movies backed up but now my system doesn't want to recongize DVDs that I put in.
Don't get me wrong, the backups work fine on both PC and in my 35 dollar Walmart Special DVD player but any movie that I put in won't read unless I play with it for a while. (such as rebooting, ejecting and pushing it back in a few times, cleaning both disk and player and other things.)
Yesterday I did a fresh install from a format of Windows so I know my OS is clean from startup crap.

Do not install DOS drivers. Win2K doesn't use DOS so that can't be the reason.
What program are you using to view the DVD's? You might try to see if yur DVD drive has the latest firmware. You might also try cleaning the lens on the drive. Or it may just be that your DVD drive is going belly up. Does it have problems readin DVD data discs?

No, I tried all those and it reads regular disk well. I just went to Hollywood video to see if other video dvd disk would read and I am having trouble with them too. I can read data disk fine but EXPLORER or any other program won't recognize the Video DVD disk.
I have also tried turning off autorun in the registry but that didn't work either.
