I recently re-partioned my hard drive. I recently installed windows 2000. And it saids I need a dvd decoder, and that a driver is not enough to enable it to play dvds. Where can I find a decoder, or what can I do to play dvds again. Last time I tried to install a fresh player, it messed up my registry, and had to re-install W2k. Thanks.

David,

I believe that the player in windows 2000 needs a decoder card to work correctly. You will probably need to install some thirdpary software like windvd. Something might have come with your computer or with the dvd drive.

most of the new video cards (all of the GeForce cards) are capable of decoding DVD's. You sure you dont mean a codec?
