Comment: I am having an issue in Win2k with the copy protection on DVD's. I've tried WinDVD, Power DVD and DVD Show Shifter. If I use Win 98SE they all play the DVD's flawlessly. However If I try to use any of those programs to play a DVD in Win2k, it comes up with various errors about not being able to get past the copy protection on the disc. Any ideas? System - Asus P3B MB PII 350 Asus E608 DVD ROM

Reply: (edit)hello there I do not know about the dvd decoders you listed, but the one I use, mediamatics by national semiconductor has 2 different decoders one for windows 9x and another one for windows 2000/whistler. This might be the problem since many windows 9x programs do not run under windows nt/2000/whistler hope this helps

Reply: (edit)Hi, I'm running POWER DVD on WIN2K and it plays my DVDs with no problems whatsoever. Have you checked the region setting of your DVD decoder software? I'm pretty sure POWER DVD lets you alter the region code which may assist in the copy protection issue.
