Comment: We've been experiencing a problem on multiple servers involving an IP address conflict. All of the servers have a static IP address. A window pops up stating that there is an IP address conflict. Upon reviewing the event log, it shows the same MAC address constantly conflicting. The problem seems to last about a day or two, then jumps to another server. What's the best way to solve this problem?

Reply: (edit)If its the same MAC address all the time, I would trace it back to the machine it is installed in and change the network card. It could be other problems, but the card is probably the culprit and is easy to rule out. If you dont know which machine the MAC belongs to, download Angry IP Scanner or similar. Good luck

Reply: (edit)When you get the msg, at a command prompt type netstat -n it will reply with the offending machine and you can change it then.

Reply: (edit)Thanks for the help! After a bit of looking, it turns out that a wireless access point was trying to give out ip addresses using our DHCP servers ip address as its own. This caused our DHCP server to go offline, and everyone that tried to get a legitimate address was denied. Thanks again for the help!
