When WIN2k comes to an abrupt halt it tends to copy any open documents and system file back onto the HDD.

The dumping physical memory is only part of the error. What else did the BSOD say.

Can you post the whole error if possible please.

I am getting this error message as well. I have Windows 2000 Professional.
This is my complete message:
STOP: 0x0000000A (Ox00000028,0x00000002,0x00000000,0x8044B76B)
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Addresss 8044B76B base at 80400000, Date Stamp 39760637 - ntoskrnl.exe
Beginning dump of physical memory. Physical memory dump complete. Contact your system Administrator or technical support group.

This happens at different times. I can be in the middle of doing just about anything and it just knocks me back to blue screen with a physical memory dump screen. I have reformatted my hard drive now 3 times and it still happens. Any clues?
Regards,
Pam

This STOP message is basically one of Windows 2000 there is a problem messages. HOwever this can be caused by many different things.

First Hardware checks:
Ok remove all non-essentail hardware ie, PCI sound cards, Ethernet Cards etc (if they are on board disable them), reseat memory CPU and all IDE cables. Reseat all Power connectors.

If it boots up and you have no problems, enable or install one piece of hardware at a time. IF after installing one peice of hardware the error message comes up try replacing the hardware or disabling it.

If it doesn't boot up or you are having the same problem:

Run the WIn2k setup CD

Select option to repair then go to recovery console.

Use these two commands:

fixmbr
fixboot

**PLEASE NOTE fixboot can screw up data on the HDD please ensure all personal data is backed up.

Try these and let me know

Thanks
