how do you get rid of the choice to run win me or win2000 at boot up.Someone told me to do (fdisk/mbr) to rewrite the boot registry but it still boots up with choice of windows or windows 2000 pro.I have formatted the drive d: with win 2000.

It is not clear that whether you wants to run 2000 or ME. Guessing that you want to run 2000 edit the boot.ini file. After unhiding the system files from windows explorer view menu edit the boot.ini. Here is a sample of my boot.ini ---------------------------------------- [boot loader] timeout=8 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect C:\="Microsoft Windows - Anitha Pillai : enter here" -------------------------------------------- As you can see I have a dual boot system. You can just remove the entry C:\="Microsoft Windows ME" or just do a rem before the statement. But since boot.ini is critical pls back up a copy and put it somewhere you can easily access before you edit it.

Actually, there's an easier way to do this in Win2k. Right-click on 'My Computer' and click 'Properties'. This will bring up your System window. Under one of the last tabs there's a place where you can turn on/off the bootup menu (for dual booting). (I forget which one it is exactly cuz i'm at work now, this PC is only running win98se.) Hope this helps!
