Dual Boot

How can I dual boot with Windows 2000 and Linux, but with an NTFS partition not FAT32. Is there any new Linux kernel that can mount the NTFS file system properly? I’ll be running either Slackware 8.1 or SuSE 8.0 Linux distros. The dual boot will be on an 11 gig HD. How would I partition the drive (i.e. partition sizes, locations etc)? Thanks

I would create a 3 GB partition (minimum) for 2000 at the front of the hard drive and use the rest for linux. You may want to use as much as 4 or 5 GB's for 2000....it depends on what you're going to be using it for and how many programs you plan on installing on it.
If you install 2000 first, then linux...the LILO bootloader (and GRUB as well) should be aware of 2000 and give you the dual boot option between the 2 OS's. At least it worked for me with the Mandrake 7.2 distro. However, I never could mount NTFS on linux. As to whether or not there are kernels now that will, I can't say. I haven't run Linux on here in quite a while.
