Comment: Hey I am trying to set up a machine that can dual boot between Win 2k and linux (specifically redhat). I would rather not use PartionMagic and software like that so does anyone know any ideas on getting this to work. I have tried the old Dual boot NT/Linux tricks and Windows 2000 doesn't like that.

Reply: (edit)I would recommend installing Win2000 first, and preferably on the LAST part of the drive. Install redhat 6.2 second on the first part of the drive and use LILO to load both OSes. The reason for this is that LILO on the 6.2 CD can't deal very well if the linux boot image is on the second part of a big hard drive (more than about 4 gigs away).

Reply: (edit)Yes, even I have faced the same problem. I tried installing Redhat 6.2 on the last part of a 20 gb hdd. When I tried using the Disk Druid to partition the disk, it always used to give "Boot Partition Too Big". So I used Partition Magic to create the partitions & installed Linux on the last part. I'm able to boot into linux using the Boot disk, but it is very risky as floppy disks are prone to damage very easily. I need help how I can use the Win2K Boot loader to boot into Linux. The method I had used for WinNT 4.0 boot loader doesn't seem to work. I had used dd to create the 512b bootable image of Linux, then edited the boot.ini. Pls. if anyone knows about it, do reply 'coz I need it desparately. Thanks.
