Comment:

Folks,
I have a 20MB Dell computer with Win98SE loaded. I used System Commander 2000 to partition the drive to have W2K installed.

When booting up - the menu displays
A -- Windows 98
B-- Windows 98 in dos mode
C-- Use A for boot
D -- Windows 2000
E -- Window 2000

The D - Windows2000 would not boot. However, the E -- Windows2000 would boot into Win2K just fine.

The documentation in SC2000 makes a note of this.

My problem now is I no longer see the E -Windows 2000 in my SC menu which I had so successfully logged into Win2K before.

When I select D-Windows2000, I get the following error>
"Windows could not start because of computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware."

I tried playing with the boot.ini file changing the parameter of multi(x), disk(x), rdisk(x) and partition(x) X=1, 2,3..
but I could not get it to boot properly into Win2K.
My default boot.ini looks like
default=multi(0),disk(0),rdisk(0), partition(2)

Anyone of you kind folks out there have any suggestions on how to get my system to boot into Window2K ie. make the E-Window2K reappear again.
I further don't see the Windows2K partition that I used to see before.

Thanks much for your help and suggestions.

Regards.

One little thing you might try is booting off of the win 2k cd, and select to repair boot partition. You may have to change the path of the win2k directory (i.e. from c:\winnt to d:\winnt), it should fix the problem. Hope this helps.
