OS: Win98 / W2K
CPU/Ram: PIII, 512
Comment:

I've run a dual boot (Win98 and W2K) system for awhile now, but would like to change and put each operating system on a separate hard drive.

Can this be done without the use of any 3rd part boot manager software?(I'd like to keep using GoBack3, which you can't use with 3rd party boot manager programs according to Roxio)

Is this possible?

If so, please tell me how to do it and how I choose which O/S boots.

thanks
(I've already checked and it appears my motherboard is too old to give me multiple hard drive boot choices)

Joe, I don't think this is possible on two seperate HDD uless you have one IDE and one SCSI and you go into the BIOS everytime you want to boot up and choose SCSI or IDE first depending what OS is on what HDD.

ie. If you want to boot to 98SE and that is loaded on a IDE HDD you would go into the BIOS and choose IDE boot first or if you want to boot to 2K and that is loaded on a SCSI HDD you would change the boot order to boot from SCSI first.

Hope this is helpful, John

I found(briefly) that it could work. But I somehow corrupted the boot.ini file.

I'm not real sure about how that happened or if this type setup is unstable, or what.

But would like to try it again and see if it continued to operate.

at this point, I need a good boot.ini file for a defaulty boot it Win98, unless W2K is chosen within 15 seconds(as my other one was before I deleted it because of having gotten corrupted somehow)
