I have removed c:\winnt and c:\documentsand settings, but I still have a boot menu. I have tried booting to a boot disk and typing sys c: at the a:\ prompt. Any suggestions?

In C:\ delete the following: boot.ini bootsect.dos ntdetect.com ntldr.sys
You might have to do the sys command again.
Just wondering, ususlly when duel booting 98 and 2000, 98 would be in the C:\ partition and 2000 in a different partition. It looks like you put 2000 in the C:\ partition.

i don't see those files anywhere in my computer...Yes I put it in the same partition as 98. I think I have deleted everything but still have the boot menu. Thank You for any help
umm....u make sure u dont have 'hide system files' and 'hide hidden files' enabled right? Do a find for those files....if u still have the 2k boot menu, at least the ntdetect.com and ntldr.sys files should be somewhere.
u probably have system files hidden...

After all the above, there's still one step missing: Boot the machine with a w98 booting dsk and while still in a: type fdisk /mbr + [enter] and that's it. You got rid of the dual boot initial screen and will start win98 up. Tell me if worked for you.

I tried doing a search and found none of those listed files. I tried booting to win98 boot disk and after selecting boot computer without cd support I type fdisk /mbr at the a prompt. After all that I still get the menu select boot screen. Anything to get ride of this menu so it will boot into windows automatically.

U are using a genuine '98 'boot-disk' to run the sys c: command?
Also you are typing:
sys c:
(note the single space between sys and c: )?
and then pressing Enter?
