I would like to know if anyone that has a successful dual boot of 2000 and ME can send me a copy of their boot.ini file... If not can anyone tell me if it's possible to manually modify the boot.ini so i can make my system dual boot? I already have 2000 on my 40 gig and i want to put ME on a 4 gig and make them dual boot... Thanks...

I used Parition Magic, because it makes it easy to create a logical drive drive so I can share .doc and .jpg between both OS.. ISInce my version of W2k dosent run setup in DOS... I had to installME then 2000.... but it all theoretically works OKAY....

Is your W2K NTFS or FAT32???

If it's FAT32 then it's possible without using a boot-manager. Just install the 4Gig HD as Slave to the 40Gig, then install '98 to it. '98 will deposit its boot/start-up files into the W2K system (only?) partition on HD-1.

The dual-boot requirement is a common accessed system partition... '98 and W2K can both 'see' FAT32 and FAT16, so either FAT is OK for this partition...

If it's NTFS then the easiest route is to use a boot-manager. Otherwise you are into a reconfig. of your HD-1 etc.. to establish the system partition as outlined above, and then a re-install of each OS to its own HD (with W2K into the Extended space on HD-1)... A lot of effort???

http://www.xosl.org is a'freebie 'boot-manager source.

discusss assorted boot-mangers - including PM's.

Boot managers 'ain't' purist - but they work, and can save a lot of effort..

If you have windows 9X install it first and then install W2K and then upgrade win9X to winME and you will have dual boot 2000 and ME. That's how I have done it and it works just fine. Make sure you run the ME upgrade within win9X.
