I installed w2k in my computer updating win98. Now the modem is not functioning and also the sound card. the models are.. modem:PC-tel, pct789t,(1789 ver 2.6) sound card: pci soundpro, ht8338A/pci, hrtf3dx audio. I opened the device manager and it shows no drivers for 1)PCI simple communication controller and 2)mulrimedia audio controller. could anyone please help me to get these drivers.will installing this solve my problem? please attach the drivers/or website address . thank you in advance param

1)PCI simple communications controller= modem drivers pick update drivers for this device and point the search to the modem drivers disk(folder) and after it installs the drivers it will find the modem and install it. 2)Multimedia audio controller= sound card drivers. If you have the disk for the sound card point to it when updating the drivers. If still wont work, get the newest drivers from the manufacturers site on the Internet.

I also have the problem associated with upgrade to W2K Pro. So can somebody please point me to the web site where I can get a Modem Driver for the "PCI Simple Communications Controller" PLEASE! Thank you in anticipation.
Try moving the Modem to a differnet PCI slot, after you have installed the latest driver (supporting XP). This problem is common to many differnt modems and some scanners. It does not appear to be XP driver related, but possibly a glitch in XP home/pro's hardware wizard. (or D: all of the above)
