Drivers for Ibm Mwave 33.6 DSP modem to work with Win2k

I understand Win2k do not support Mwave DSP. How and from where I can get the new driver for IBM Mwave 33.6 Data and Fax Modem. How can I upgrade 33.6 to 56.0 with necessary drivers. Thanks

IBM up until very recently (last couple of months)have still been putting the MWave DSP chipsinto their laptops (Thinkpads) and there are W2k drivers for MWave under 2000. It's version 2.6 which basically gives you 56k V.90. However these driver will only work if you have a Thinkpad 770 or 600. If you have one of the old ISA MWave card in your Aptiva, Packard Bell, or HP machine then basically forget it. W2k was built on NT technology, NT by definition doesn't support multifunction devices (of which MWave is one example), no NT drivers are available for the ISA version of MWave and therefore no drivers are available for W2k. The last time IBM supplied an ISA MWave card in a machine was early 1997 and the development of drivers for the ISA version finished around that time as well at a time when Win2k wasn't even a twinkle in Bil Gates eye.

go to www.pc.ibm.com and select support. Enter mw2000r2.exe in the search field and you'll find the mwave drivers.

The mw2000rc2.exe file is only for ThinkPad 760/756 machines. They'll not work with anything else. Mwave in a ThinkPad is a different story from MWave in desktop machine so yes there are NT4 drivers and W2K drivers for Mwave, but only for ThinkPad systems.
