Im having BIG problems with my pc. Im running w2k and everything have been perfect for almost 1 month. Then someone hacked my computer and I started having problems with ICQ. I tried everything, but had to reinstall W2K. After that ICQ was ok, but I started getting other odd problems. The computer stops and reboots all the time 2-3 times a day, when im not using it. MSACCESS.exe is causing problems, so i have to restart the program. Napster is stalling from time to time. I have installed the W2K update but it don't help. Today I reinstalled everything once more, and got the following message after working in access for about 5 min:
(Blue screen)
***STOP: 0x0000001E (0xC0000005, 0xA0017840, 0x00000000, 0x00000340)
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
Adress A0017840 base at A000000000 DateStamp 38438ff7-win32k.sys
Dumping physical memory.
The machine then stalls and I have to reboot. What the f.... is going on???

After reinstalling everything once more, I got a new error... The problem starts when I use Access.
(Blue screen)
*** Stop 0x000000D1 (0x41092024, 0x000000002, 0x0000000000, 0xbe8ab561)
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Adress BE8AB561 base at BE8950000, DateStamp 38437F02 - tcpip.sys
Dumping physical memory.

I have not upgradet my memory or anything. The only new things is a 20Gb HDD and a floppy. These was installed about 1 week before I got any problems.

What can i do? Is there something wrong with my hardware???
Im using a AMD K6-2 500MHz, 128 Mb Ram, 26 GB HDD, Banshee 16 MB 3D, LivePlayer 1024, Apollo motherboard. The computer is conected to the net 24 hours with 256 kbps. I have used TDS-2, Zone Alarm and WormGuard to protect my pc. There is no virus, worm or trojan on the computer (I hope that is rigth)

I hope someone can help me!

Please send me a e-mail if you have a program that I can use to check the physical condition of my CPU and Ram

I think that the new HD is the issue! Stack dumps and other issues are not likely to be memory issues. You might have a page file problem!! I would start from scratch! Back up all of your personal files, mail, WAB, favorites & anything else you made to a spare HD or a zillion floppies. Download a utility from IBM called wipe and 0 fill the drive, repartition and format w/ your Win2K cd.......use NTFS for your system disk. Add new software sparingly in a controled way!
Most importantly use your login to create an Administrator account, add software through admin, add a user(you)and apply a password for you!! Give yourself premission to do only the most limited stuff that you can. Typically log on as yourself unless you have a problem or want to change settings!! If you mess something as yourself call the administrator and he will give you a new account. LOL You will be suprised by how much up-time you will get operating this way!! If your running a server than you hopefully know about what I mentioned and will avoid the administrator login. The root files are protected and a hacker would be hardpressed to damage them. You might also want to invest in a router $150.00 Linksys cable/dsl router that will give you a hardware firewall that is totally stealthy. In it you can foward whatever ports that you like, also you can set up a DMZ yet other machines you use will still be protected. I am using one in my network now and because of it I have the freedom to leave file and printer sharing turned on at all times!!Good luck!!

I encountered the driver_irql_not_less_or_equal BSOD numerous times on win2kas but I may have found a fix... for my particular instance of the problem. As usual, your results may vary.

But first, background info: the PC is a homebuilt PIII600 with an Abit BE6 motherboard running windows 2000 advanced server and all patches and updates as of 11/6/2000. One WD6400 hard drive is on UDMA33 bus 0 and a WD205ba 20gb UDMA66 drive is on UDMA66 bus 0. Video and NIC are standard AGP and 3com 905b devices. The problem only occours when the 20gb drive is attached.

I know that this error can have many causes. Mine related to large data transfers between the standard ide and UDMA66 busses. When the BSOD pops up it directly references the HPT366.sys Abit UDMA66 driver as the source of the memory stack overflow. When I upgraded to the most recent Abit driver rev (www.abit-usa.com)the problem seemed to clear up.

All I can suggest is to be sure you have the most recent drivers (if your problem is related to disk I/O) and if you are using windows 2000 be sure you have the latest bios rev. I've been running win2k since Dec 99 (my shop is a microsoft partner) and out of 11 documented glitches, bios upgrades have fixed 8 of them. Microsoft and the manufacturers arent documenting much of this stuff so you'll have to test carefully.

Good luck!

I have almost the same problem: Driver_irql_not_less_on_equal
Stop:0x000000D1 and then beginning dump phisical memory and restart. It's an Win2000 Professional Sp2, 256 SDRAM, an AMD Athlon, NVIDIA TNT2 and an internal voice modem 45K.
Another problem is that the PC freezes without any response from keybord&mouse and no logging message.
Can anybody tell me if is a hard or a soft problem? Should i reinstall Win or should i check for a hardware issue?

P.S. i love blue, bot not this time. :)
