So this all started a few weeks ago.

My computer was turning itself off and on randomly.

So I updated Win 2K with all the packs.

Then, the computer started working fine for a week, except that in Yahoo messnger, when I get mail, if I click on the envelope, it would not open yahoo mail, it would say there is no file associated.

So last night this is what happens. Computer turned on, hits Windows start up screen, and blue screen.

Error is "BIOS not ACPI compliant."

So I go into BIOS to turn ACPI off, and then the computer just loops, getting to the black windows setup screen, and then flashing back into BIOS...and repeat...

So what the hell does anyone think is going on?
Would a windows update cause this?

My mother board is an EPOX 8K7A.

Could it be a hardware problem?

I am very disgruntled, this was the first computer I have built and it was fine for 1.5 years. and now this...

Also, if I set BIOS to boot from CD first, and put the Win 2K Cd in, the computer just sits there on the screen "boot from CD."
i.e. it is stuck there

Thank you for any help.
Regards,
PiP

Go to the PC manufacturers website and see if there is an update available for your BIOS

Well, epox has an update, but it says "beta" version.

So me thinks that this is a hardware related issue.
