Asking about downloading copyrighted software is a no no on this site. There are still vendors selling Win2000. Try Googling.

You say: "and the moment you log into microsoft, they kills your OS".

If that is happening then the copy and the installation key you bought were not legal. Probably a corporate copy and the original company no longer maintains that license.

william

You say WinXP is too slow on that computer. How much RAM is installed?

How much free space is there on the hard drive?

eBay; computer-fairs, clearance outlets... are all possible sources for most of the M$ OS...; and also a google trawl too?

You mean to say you don't know how to generate keys and/or bypass activation & WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) by now?

"I figure if I boycott microsoft websites, and lockdown IE, microsoft probably won't wreck the OS..."

Why would M$ single you out & constantly trash your OS? Based on the questions you've asked & some of the advice you've given, the answer is obvious...you're simply not very good with computers. Any damage to your OS was self inflicted.

Who are you gonna blame when you can't get Linux to work? Are we gonna have to read about how the evil Linus Torvalds trashed your OS & that we should avoid all Linux sites? lol

Thanks

You put "160" which I assumed to be 160MB RAM. If you only have 64MB, there's your problem. Although Win2K will run with 64MB, it certainly won't run well...it'll definitely run better than XP though. You have a laptop that was designed for Win98 & for best performance, that's the OS you should be running. Or if you know how to tweak it, WinME would run decently.

As for where to find a "free" copy Of Win2K Pro, I sent you a private message explaining what to do.
