DOS task frozen after Multitask

I am running a DOS app, in win 2000, that uses a Graphic window. It runs fine until I switch to a windows task. The DOS app freezes after switching to a windows app and only when switching from the DOS graphic window (full screen default). The app is launched from a shortcut that uses a PIF to call the following config.sys:

You can run a DOS application in Graphic Mode ONLY full screen sized under Windows NT/2K/XP.
That is the rule and there is no workaround as DOS graphic mode is not supported in a NT window. So the application freezes when you switch to another task and resumes only when the full screen is restored.
