Having problems runing some ms dos programs in 2000. Some will not open/run. Anyone know a work around/or program I could use. thanks

You can right click your icon, select properties, go to compatibility and select W98 or W95. Sometimes that does the trick.

Eric, I think you're thinking of WindowsXP. Win2000 doesn't have compatibility settings. If you get any answers to this, please e-mail me with the results. I've got an old DOS game that needs "pure dos" - ie., the type you had to log out of Windows95/98 for. It's telling me it needs min 21mb RAM, but I actually have 256mb. Any ideas?

Are you talking about Program compatibility flags? Have tried it still no joy..

Dos program runs in a NTVDM, NT Virtual Dos Machine. W2K will not let any acces to the system by any dos or win16 programs. That could be the reason why your programs does not run. Also DOS program require that you have required virtual drivers for all your peripherals. Thoses are the two main reason why DOS or WIN16 program doesnt run in w2k/winnt/winxp.
