Hello,
how do I get to a DOS prompt in Win2K? It used to be possible to access a true DOS if one pressed F8 during boot. Now, I don't get that option....! I have a laptop with a CDROM but with no floppy. So, any solutions using a CDROM and network only would be appreciated!!
TIA,
Sherman

There is no DOS in W2K. You can boot using F8 to safe mode option with command prompt.

This may get you to what you need.

While it is correct that there is no Dos in win2k, the console runs quite
adequately for most things. It can be accessed by typing “cmd” at the
run command. If you have your heart set on DOS, get a “Command .com”
from MSDOS 5. it will run in win2k though you will not have direct
hardware access

it pretty much depends on what you want to be able to do
