how come my win98 canot logon to win2k server domain?

yes, you can use a dot in your domain name. You can use pretty much anything you want if you are not going to have an internet presence. Obviously if you are going to register the domain name on the Internet, you'll have to use something that is not already in use.

Why doesn't your 98 machine log on to the domain? Well there could be a million reasons. You want to give us a bit more info. Maybe some error messages or something?
