Doesnt detect external hard drive!!

I have a mp3 player and it works like an external hard drive, my problem is that my computer doesnt detect my mp3 player.... its supossed to appear a new hard disk but it doesnt!! its connected via USB, and i tryed on my Uncles Computer and it works perfectly there!! he has Windowx XP
