Hello,
How would I disable DNS caching on the server side? So far, the only thing I can find is lowering the MaxCacheTtl.

Thanks in advance :)

All dns servers are caching information received from authoritative servers. The TTL is defined by the zones owners and is specific to each zone.

Trying to disable caching behavior of DNS protocol is a nonsense.

Do you want to disable caching altogether on this DNS server? If this is the case, why?? It will take longer for clients to resolve names, and it just doesn't make sense.

Or may be you want to disable caching of your zone information on other DNS servers that query yours. If this is the case, then the TTL is it.

disabling caching on DNS isn't nonsense.

I have other DNS servers to resolve requests and I just don't want this DNS server not to caching ANYTHING for my own reasons.

thanks :)

Hi,
To diseable DNS caching first you have to empty the cache by typing in the command prompt ipconfig/flushdns and then go to programs, administrative tools, componants services, DNS client and make a manual start up.
I'm sorry if i'm not clear because i'm translating from the french version of windows i have.
I hope this helped
