Comment:
1) Why do i get a Disk I/O Error when trying to start up with W2K boot disk(s)? (I changed the old floppy drive with a new one, but it didnt help the problem) 2) if its not a hardware problem, what could it be?
Have you tried booting to a Dos or Win98 boot disk? If so, did they fail also?

I am TRYING to install win2k, I keeping getting the "Disk i/o error" message when i try to install, i don't think i can install form the cd, and the HD is brand new 40GB 7200 Maxtor ATA 100. I don't know what to do now. I am also getting an error "IO.sys bad or missing" on boot up. If anyone could tell me what i could do, that would be great. Derek dartx@juno.com
