1) Why do i get a Disk I/O Error when trying to start up with W2K boot disk(s)? (I changed the old floppy drive with a new one, but it didnt help the problem) 2) if its not a hardware problem, what could it be?

I tried different disks before I changed the floppy drive... it's not a hardware problem nor a diskette problem...

Change the floppy cable too. I had a bad cable once, and I was laughing at the guy who told me to swap the cable.

It fixed my floppy drive, I couldn't believe it.

The floppy drive is fully functional. I can read and write data all day long.

When i try to reboot using my boot disks in the A: i get a Disk I/O error. I dont know why.

My NT4 boot disk #3 does this to me, but I assume the disk is now bad. I would just boot from CD or do a diskless install.

I have also made new boot disks from the CD when I need them.

Have you tried booting to a Dos or Win98 boot disk? If so, did they fail also?

I am TRYING to install win2k, I keeping getting the "Disk i/o error" message when i try to install, i don't think i can install form the cd, and the HD is brand new 40GB 7200 Maxtor ATA 100. I don't know what to do now. I am also getting an error "IO.sys bad or missing" on boot up. If anyone could tell me what i could do, that would be great.
