Comment:

I have tried everything, I cannot open any of the admin tools especially the event log, because I get the error message disc is full, when I look at "c" drive it is in fact full, I have removed all I can as well as all temp files, but it fills right back up. What could be doing this? I have tried to run my antivirus update but it will not update, I cannot download spybot or something of that nature to see if there is a virus. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried boot to safe mode and working from there?

How large is your partition? What have you removed? Try the update files in the Windows folder, removing all tmp files. You could also
open Control Panel Add/Remove programs and uninstall anything you absolutely don't need. If you have more than one partition, move the pagefile from C, or at least let Windows manage it. That should free up some space.

Life's more painless for the brainless.

Single partition system? If so... can you not transfer (as in copy off) data etc. to optical media - and verify those copies are readable etc. on this system and one other.

Once you have done that... delete those data files from drive - to free up some space...

Then go on-line and run a freebie on-line scan for nasties:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/uk

http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan

both offer that service...

Disable system restore while you do this...; reset/re-enable once system is tryuly clean etc...

Also perhaps run the XP disk cleanup tools?

If using Norton or MacAfee a/v I'd be inclined to remove whichever and instead install something like Avast (avast.com) or AVF. Both freebies; both do not hog resources and space etc. I favour Avast as I've used it now for over two years - and no problems at all. Auto updates like a dream. AVG did give me/friends some grief with an ME system; it effectively screwed it up... until I removed AVG; installing Avast produced no problems...

Yes...what Jennifer was asking....
When you say you have removed some files but the drive fills back up....How much are you actually removing? Several 100MB or just a few K?

To make an operational difference...you need to remove a few 100MB (I would say at lease 300).

Also...disconnect from the Internet while trying any fixes.
