Recently the dial up connection on my office computer was running very slow.
I decided it could be a virus/spyware.
The following programs were then run to see if there was anything nasty on the computer.
Ad-aware
Spybot
NOD32 Trial Version (Uninstalled after)
Avast Anti-Virus (Uninsatlled after)Everything that was found by these programs was deleted.
My problem came this morning when turning on the computer the following message was displayed:
'Disc Boot Failure, insert system disc and press return'
How would I go about solving this, bearing in mind I do not have the system disc!
Any suggestions as to what the problem is or where i might be able to get a system disc from would be greatly apprecieted.
Thanks in advance.

just check that any floppy is there if not then check for the hard disk controller and then disable the boot virus enabled and restart the pc it will solve the problem if then boot with any bootable floppy drive and check for the c:\

Could be the scan and programs are not related to this issue.
You need a ME boot diskette. You should be able to download one from bootdisk.com. You need to get fdisk and sys.com on the diskette.
Start by booting up on the diskette and doing a "dir c:\". If it comes back with folders like windows and a bunch of files you are OK.
Next step would be to do a "fdisk/mbr" to refresh the master boot record. Next do a "sys c:" which will refresh the boot files io.sys/msdos.sys/command.com and put them in their correct locations.
Now see if you can boot into windows.
Anyone getting on the internet MUST have updated AV/ Spyware checker/firewall installed. You're asking to get slammed if you don't.
