How do I select which Programs run at startup if they are NOT listed in the startup folder? Win 98 had MSCONFIG where I could choose which programs would run at system startup. I can go to START|PROGRAMS|ACCESSORIES|SYSTEM TOOLS|SYSTEM INFORMATION|SOSTWARE ENVIRONMENT|STARTUP PROGRAMS and see what's being loaded, but no apparent way to selectively stop them. Really need this answer. Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi,
I downloaded a copy of msconfig.exe and I actually use it to control what starts up and what doesn't.
You can grab a copy from here
http://www.techadvice.com/win2000/m/msconfig_w2k.htm

Copy it to the system32 folder.

I just asked the same question on Virtualdr.com and got the following answer:
"Do a search for StartUp Cop. It's a small stand alone proram that will let you see and add/remove items that run at start-up.
You can also go here http://www.3dspotlight.com/tweaks/win2k_services/index.shtml and find out how to cut down on some of the unnecessary background services at start-up that won't show up with StartUp Cop." I haven't tried it yet but Iwill today. Let me know if this works for you.
