Did you hear Yahoo is going to charge
almost $20.00 a year for their currently
free e-mail account?

I've been using a similar service as my
free backup email account... it's pretty
nifty... easy to use and since it's relatively
unknown, I've never received an
unsolicited spam email message.

Speaking of spam, I've been using a
really cool free tool to slash the amount of
unsolicated email spam from my inbox. I
use Sneake
mail to create on the fly temporary
email addresses that forward to my
regular account. That way, if I signup for a
newsletter and they send me millions of
spam messages, I just visit my account
at Sneakemail and delete that temporary
email address... bam... no more
unsolicited email spam.

Tell me what you think if you decide to try
it.

You got it wrong. Basic e-mail will still be free. The $20 charge is for additional storage space which few people will need. Yahoo also has spam filters you can set yourself and an automatic spam detector that puts spam into a bulk folder. Between the auto spam detector and the user made filters, nearly all spam ends up in either the trash or the bulk folder.

Yahoo is still doing OK with advertising sales. They may charge for basic free e-mail in the future but they aren't yet. They're just trying to get some people to pay for some extra's, like storage.

From what I understand, they are no longer going to do pop3 mail, meaning you won't be able to have your outlook, outlook express, ect, retrieve it. Instead, you will have to log on with your internet browser to get your mail (which is how MSN does it, I believe)

Hopefully I'm wrong...
