DHCP Server Problem

Comment:
Running Win2K Server with DHCP service. When looking at the Services tool, it says that both DHCP Server and Client has started. When I go into the DHCP Console, I see the computer with the correct IP, but it says that it is not connected or it is not running on the target computer. Any suggestions?

Have you Authorized the DHCP server? Right-click on the server in the DHCP console and look to see if there is an option to "unauthorize", if there is, then it has been Authorized. If not, the option to Authorize should be available and you should do so.
Also, remember to Activate the scope you will create.

When I click on the server in the console, it ends up saying that it can't find the DHCP server, so it's kind of hard to authorize it. I can't even create a scope for it. Under services, it still says that DHCP has started.

When you set up the computer did you set a static IP address? If not do so and then you should be able to authorize the dhcp.

Already setup with static IP. Next to the server that shows up in the console is the IP that I assigned it. But in the console, it keeps on saying that it can't find the server even though under Services it does says DHCP Server has started. I had also tried stopping and restarting the DHCP Server but keep on getting the same problem.

Check to see if win2k automatically assigned an ip address to the server. 169.254.101.152. It can be disabled in the registry by adding ipautoconfigurationenabled and setting the dword value to O.
