Comment:

I have a netgear fvs318 firewall with 8 ports switch, I set it up as dhcp. I connect netgear to a linksys 16 port switch. I have a xeon computer, runing win2k pro, have a intl82550pm nic. Here is my problem:
when I connect nic to netgear, it will have good ip (within range i set in dhcp), and it access other computers and access internet. but, if I connect this computer to linksys switch, it will NOT have good ip, I use ifconfig/renew, and has message say"dhcp not responsing". why? please help.

Are you using a straight thru or crossover cable between the Netgear and Linksys?
