Comment: Everytime I try to shutdown my computer, I get the task manager error of it trying to shut down the devldr.exe file. It just does not shutdown though. i give it the time and keep trying to end task but it won't do it. So I end up just shutting off the power and I know thats bad for it. I called Creative for tech support but they said since I bought it from Dell I have to go to them, so I called them. Dell said that since the computer didn't come with Windows 2000 (it came with ME) it's not covered under warranty. So I'm kinda stuck and counting on one of you geniouses to help me, and boy do I need it. Thanks -Alok

Reply: (edit)Alok, You most likely don't need this file. devldr.exe is part of LiveWare 3 for SoundBlaster cards. Create a folder on your desktop to which you'll temporarily move devldr.exe. If you need to, use Window's search to find the file. Probably in the WINNT/system32. Cut the file from where it is and paste it to the folder you just created on the desktop. Reboot and see if your symptoms disappear. Make sure your sound functions as it should before deleting the file permanently. If your original problem disappears but you sound doesn't function correctly...please e-mail me and don't delete the file. But I think you'll be fine. -MW

Reply: (edit)Here is a temp fix for the above problem untill Creative get there drivers sorted, a few others have tried it and it seems to work ok. Thanks to Scomea@lycos.com: Here is the fix: I managed to get rid of the boot delay, shutdown delay, and error message by moving a file called devldr32.exe (or devldr.exe) from winnt\system32 to start menu\programs\startup\. It boots a lot faster and the SB still works perfectly My System: Dell Precision 420 with Win 2K Scomea@lycos.com
