Got rid of Creative S.Blaster Live 5.1 sold the card, uninstalled software. Process devldr32.exe was still always already running (according to process viewer, etc) after started up and logged on (thus slowing startup and using resources). Couldn't find what was making this run at start up (services, msconfig, contrller etc all had nothing on this). Startup menu has been empty for years (to my tastes). In defiance, I ended the process, replaced the devldr32.exe file (in C;\\winnt\system32\..) with a blank text file of the same name and ran a search on "Creative" in C:\\ and registry. This got rid of lots and lots. Used Reg Edit & Reg Seeker got rid of more.
Now, all apps (winamp, realplayer, word, powerpoint, opera, mozilla) open fine except....little old Acro Reader 5.1 gives me the error message (trans form German) "the NTVDM-CPU has encountered an invalid command"

If I click "ignore" this goes away but it would sure be nice to purge this forever.David
PS I switched (on the bios) to my onboard sound; AC97 and the gigabyte driver that is part of the chipset. I have seleced any options for sound with AC97 soundcard (e.g in Winamp etc), Why would Acrobat be trying to talk to Creative (I DID install Reader before I removed the soundcard, I think)
