Comment: I bought HP Pavillion 8668C with Windows 98 on it. When I installed Win 2K Professional on it, following devices stopped working. 1)CD Writer does not work.2) No sound from CD Rom 3)DVD does not work. Cannot even see it through Windows explorer.
HP sold me a CD with some drivers on it but none of them was helpful. Then they suggested to reinstall Win 98, which I don't want to do. Any suggestion to make these devices work with Win 2k Profesional, please.

Reply: (edit)well what you have 2 do to get your cd-rom working change the IDE cable in your computer round that should solve your problem with the cd-roms and stuff other than that you will need software updates

Was everything working before you installed w2k? if it was all you should need are new drivers and a firmware upgrade - you can get both from the manufacturers web site. if it wasn't working check the cables and power plugs inside. also check inside to see if there is an audio cable going from the cd-rom to your sound card.

Reply: (edit)go to hp site with your model number to find drivers with win2k also if your cdr. and cdrom/dvd was put in after you bought the hp
they should have drivers for win2k or download the right drivers off of their sites
another option is load win98 back on and check devices/models of devices write them down to go to manufactures sites to download
drivers i went through this on a hp 6635
and it works perfect for me!!!
