desktop icons only 256colous???

CPU/Ram: athlon 2600+ barton xp 51

hi there. I recently installed windows 2k updates (official) and now my desktop icons and startmenu icons are all in 256 colours. The rest of my pc is displaying 32 bit colour. PLEASE HELP

Try going to Display Properties
Effects tab
Check the box for "Show icons using all possible colours"
