i recienty bought a Dell Optiplex GX1 running windows 2000. since i couldnt log on at all, i decided to upgrade the hard drive and install a fresh copy of win 2k. I unplugged the PC and changed the hard drive. after installing the hard drive the PC dosnt turn on, when i push the power botton on the front of the pc... nothing happens. i looked the the kill switch on the power supply but there isnt one. i opened the case and i noticed that the power supply isnt the problem. when its plugged in, a little LED on the motherboard lights up. so then i put the old hard drive back in, and the same problem. so im wondering if the problem is with the botton that turns on the pc, but i dont know how i would fix that if it was the problem.

Check the wires on everything (power supply, computer, be sure that it is properly pushed into your computer). All I can think of.
Always post back so we know how you did, or if I gave you some bad advice.

I still think it's the power supply. They go bad from time to time. Remove it and have it tested at some repair shop.
