You won't be able to delete the file unless you piggy back that drive or run special software.

Check out other posts on this subject. There are many.

The drive should be set to slave and your primary drive set to master. One other thing, the other computer has to be running a version of Windows NT.

My personal 2¢, deleting the SAM file won't make a difference. I had a similar problem with a WinNT4 box when the password became corrupted. NOTHING WORKED, deleting the SAM file, running password crackers, password guessers, etc. The only thing that worked was REINSTALLING and creating a backup ADMINSTRATOR account so it would never happen again.

I'd set the drive as the Secondary Master, rather than the Primary Slave. Just experience talking. :)

й§kmªñ is right though. Deleting the SAM isn't a guarantee that the passwords will reset.

Go with the Linux boot disk or L0PHTCrack.

covers most bases/options.

The linux botdisk util from http://www.nttoolbox.com (downloads\admin tools) and the parallel install cost only time/effort.
