Comment: I recently was trying to uninstall google toolbar from my system but was unable to do so, it wouldnt let me do it in add/remove programs so i went to my computer; C:/ ; Program Files; and deleted the google folder containing all of the toolbar files. As soon as i did this my computer was running slow and locked up. I rebooted, it logged me in and everything and i can see my start bar for about 1 second then it disapears and all i can see is my background... no start bar, no icons, nothing. I am able to Ctrl+Alt+Delete and open task manager etc but nothing else. I then downloaded the same google toolbar on another computer and put it onto a blank cd. I was wondering if there was a way that i could transfer the file back to the C:/Program Fies folder from the command line from the cd i made. I do have a second hard drive and realize i could reformat it and install another windows partition and trasfer it that way but idealy i would like to not have to do that. I am open to suggestions. Thanks

Reply: (edit)Ok now its just hanging after it logs in. i can still see the start bar for about 2 seconds then its just my background. I can open task manager then click file; new task; browse.. and browse my entire system. I can even open some applications by right clicking and clicking open. I can access my cd-rom drive and everything. I can open a command prompt also. Its as if its not loading my desktop or something weird. Im stumped though so any help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks.

Reply: (edit)I have been researching on the web and found it could be a problem with the registry or a virus/spyware. Im not sure which steps to take to fix it.

Reply: (edit)"Have you tried a system restore?" Heh - Kind of a tricky proposition in Win2K - maybe you'd like to outline the steps to do so? Diplomacy is the art of saying 'Nice doggie!'... till you can find a rock

Reply: (edit)From the task manager Go file > Run > explorer.exe you should get your desktop back. Then reinstall google toolbar, then properly uninstall it with the Add/Remove Programs applet.
