I'm runnning Win 2000. I have a file in my favourites folder that I cannot delete. I tried to re save the favourite over the top to then delete it (amongst doing many other things), but I get an error message which states that the file name is too long. The file name is very long and could be the cause, but I also suspect that the original file is damaged or missing - no longer has the appearance of an IE favourite file. I have checked it out to make sure it is not a virus, and I did bookmark this site intentionally anyway. - I now want to delete it but can't - small but frustrating problem.
Any suggestions? Thanks

Have you tried doing it from within Explorer?
C:\Documents and Settings\brookie\Favorites

Left click once on the file and then hit the Delete button.

brookie235, I recently saw a similar problem on another forum and the only program that got rid of a stubborn file was "Delete FXP" which you can get a Free version at the link below. It worked when all others, including MoveOnBoot failed to get rid of the file.

Delete FXP

sigh, all bull.

Rename it in your favourites, if not possible

Go to the dosprompt, rename the file and delete it.

Done!

Tried to rename it both ways - as suggested by ooglenz1 - but this didn't work. I had previously tried this before I posted message also.

Downloaded Delete FXP - worked a treat - thanks heaps~!!

brookie235, Glad to see that "Delete FXP" did the job of getting rid of that file. Thanks for posting back.
