My computer is the print server for an HP 8100n which is connected directly to the network. There is also an HP Officejet R65 which is connected via parallel cable to another computer running Windows 2000. My computer is connected to the R65 so I can print to it. The problem is my computer keeps changing its default printer to the R65 whenever it starts up. I set the default to the 8100n and it wil stay that way until I reboot, when it will revert back to the R65. I have no software installed which would be causing this. Hope someone can help.
Thanks in advance

Just a quick down and dirty idea, presuming you are a local admin on the PC you use.

Delete (yes delete) the R65 printer from your available printers. You'll be told blah, blah.... the default printer is now HP 8100n. Reboot The HP8100 is the only printer availiable after the reboot it should be the default printer still.

Then Add the R65, if the PC autodetects it it shoud not become the default printer, if you need to manually install the printer Say NO to, "Use this printer as your default printer"

you don't have any profiles do you ? Worth a shot... Good luck
