How do I change the default path that I am put in when I open the command prompt?
I have my PATH variable set to
%SystemRoot%\WINNT\System32;
Which does display as C:WINNT\System32,
but when I open the Command prompt it defaults to the Root of my personnal drive on out network and none of the system commands are found until I cd to C:Winnt\system32.
How can I make the Command prompt path default to the Winnt\system32 dir?

It all depends on how you are opening the command prompt to begin with. If you are using a short cut or the Start menu icon, try right-clicking on the icon and selecting Properties. You can adjust the variables there....
