new problem.
I had 2 user accts (say A and B) on my computer. While logged into B, I encrypted some files many months ago. Recently, I deleted user acct B.
to my horror, i found that i cannot open the files again. the error msg is "c:\xxx.doc:can't read file header! unknown file format or file not found!"

The encryption is connected/attached to the Account SID. Unless you designated your other account as a Recovery Agent, then you're out of luck unless you can move/copy the files to a non-ntfs drive/partition. Might be a good idea to read up on EFS before encrypting anymore files.
Life's more painless for the brainless.
