I have to take a file from a laptop and move it to my desktop. There is no NIC card in the laptop. So I went out and bought a parallel cable for the transfer. I connected the two computers and they are able to talk to each other or connected to each other. But I have no clue how to send the file from the laptop to the desktop once there connected. I shared the laptops hard drive but can't see it in the network places or anywhere else. Please help me I have to get this done by Monday.

go here:
http://www.ghisler.com/
Get Total Commander; shareware, not crippled.
Install file will fit on a floppy. install on both computers. Find dropdown menu, i forgot which one, for port connection to other computer. Make one the client and the other the server. uses parallel transfer cable, (laplink type cable).
Works the first time, no configuration required.
Try it, you'll like it. In fact you will become addicted to it because it is so good.
Makes Explorer look homemade.

essentially 'a mirror' of wown.com info - but with full graphic displays. In Jo Helmig's own site he has to limit some graphic info in order to conserve space/bandwidth; but for a notional fee ($8 anually) you can access the full graphic info - and also download the entire site...

You have all the software you need for DCC in W2K etc. - no need of add-in software... although Total Commander sounds interesting...
