DCC - Direct Cable Connection (which is really cut down style of networking).

Laplink - but is available between XP/W2K???

Copy to CDR/CDRW/DVDR/DVDRW/tape/floppy (and you'll probably need a lot of these?) and move it that way?

A simple peer-to-peer network is by far the fastest/easiest? Cheap and easy to set up; i.e. a NIC in each PC ($10-$15/£10-£15 each), a cat-5 cross-over cable ($3-$5/£3-£5 each) between them; install the appropriate software and configure etc. (all current M$ OS have what's needed); time to set up = 30mins to an hour???

There are countless ways to accomplish this task. Each method well have it's Pro and Cons. Each has requirements that which may be More or Less desirable than the other. In the End, it's what you have, how easy/dificul, time required and Spped all play a role.

Start Simpe - if you want to transfer a Few Files once in a while and have

1) CD-RW, DVD-RW
2) Removeable Storage Meida - USB PEN, SD Ram, Compaq Flash, ZIP Drive, etc
3) Blue Tooth or IR or other wireless

then you can get more into it, if you want a perminate or plan on reusing the connection over time. Consider Direct Cable Connection (USB, Null Modem, Corss Over Cable.

How to Install and Configure the Direct Cable Connection Feature. Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 298446

You can get more involved and add IPs and protocols. There's just so many ways to get the same result. Good Luck
